As the previous owner had shaved the bumpers as well as where the trunk latch was and the front Dino emblem, bodywork and fabrication of parts needed to be done to get the car back to original.
Off to Paint
The car has been stripped and ready to o to Steve’s for about 4 months
What color was this car??
The owner hadn’t decided on a color but was leaning towards blue. We were told this car was originally silver. As I was stripping it down there right in front of me was a remnant of the original color. The car came from the factory wearing Dino Blue Metallizzato, the owner decided that’s what it will be. I really like this trend with owners going back to original colors.
08450 Arrives today
I was contacted by a guy in New York who had stumbled upon dinorestoration.com and loved the two restorations I had done and wondered if I would be willing to take on a new project. Of course I said yes and in one day’s time I picked up the car in Los Angeles and brought it to my shop. It will mostly be a cosmetic restoration although the engine will come out for new synchros. As soon as I have it apart it will go to Steve Kouracos for one of his fantastic paint jobs.
Original black 74 GTS
Another project to work on. It’s a 74 GTS original color black and will stay black. The owner has chosen red leather with red carpet. All the trim to be done in black dino vinyl and the dash in Henk’s material from the Netherlands.
And it’s done!
After several years of work #O4946 is done! It is a 73GT, 1 0f 5 coupes imported to the USA with flares and shares. I know, some of you will have to look away. The car was originally yellow with black interior. It was later painted red, then black and now Azzurro Metallizzato. Steve K. did a fabulous paint job and came out of retirement to paint this car. Since this one he’s done a half dozen and more lined up. As you can see (for you purists) I took a few liberties. I changed the black on the bottom so it doesn’t hide the beautifully sculpted air intakes at the front. I also just have individual air cleaners rather than the stock one which hides the engine. I used Henks dash material and vinyl. I had Cavallo Motorsports do all the adjusting etc so it runs and drives perfect. It has about 400 miles now on it to work out all the kinks and fully sort things.
Rosso Rubino Metallizzato
The trend is alive and well!! Not back to the future but back to the past! Another going back to original factory delivered color combination.
A beater 206 showed up today!
Another project came in today. It’s a 206 that was completely bastardized by the previous owner. Bumper shaved, no chrome etc etc etc. It’s going back to it’s original configuration and color!
