Ferrari Dino 246 Suspension, Rear Hubs, Wheel Bearings, omgjon, dino restoration, Jon Gunderson

With my GTS off for some much needed metal work and Shawns GTS just finishing metal work, Marks and Erics should be done next week, my 206 I keep pushing to the end of the line and a 74 Silver GTS on it’s way I got my butt in gear and started the assembly process of the parts on my GTS so everything will be ready when it comes from paint. This part of the process takes about a month and I try to have everything together so I’m not looking or waiting for parts. During this time, Ralph at Auto’s International is busy recovering all the vinyl pieces, and redoing the seats, door panels and firewall in leather. The carpet is fit later as he likes it exact so we don’t use any patterns only for position. The car should be back from Brads in 3 to 4 months. I kind of have him stacked up right now with 4 on rotisseries in his shop! I take one TAV at a time, usually starting with the suspension and work my way through all of it. It’s very rewarding to see things coming back together and looking so good. Another Dino being rescued!!!

No real surprises at the media blaster. So far no real evidence of damage and the rust seems confined to the sill. I cut out the sills before I sent it out so I could get the frame rail well blasted

More parts and critter turds!! You can see where the extra bumper posts were welded in and US light added. I believe it was imported in 74 and must of been required for import.

We started taking some parts off to see what we have to work with. Typical rust in the sills and behind rear tires. We’ll see what else is lurking after it is media blasted. I especially like the white sidewalls. I hope shawn doesn’t want me to turn them around so all can see!
Another critter of some sort was living in the drivers sill. Interior appears to be original, including carpet. The clear coat came off with the power washer. Looking like a fun project.Another Dino being saved from the jaws of hell.

Dino Euro model. omgjon, dino restoration, Jon Gunderson

A new project showed up today from Houston, Texas. The owner is one of our more prominent members on Fchat! It’s been sitting in a barn on a farm in texas, and some kind of Texas critter is missing his home!! You never know what you’ll find when you open the lids. This car is a Euro Spyder with USA lights added and appears to be very solid, of course until media blasted it is all unknown. The Dino is going Blue Dino Metallizzato with tan interior, daytona seats and rust carpeting. All the carpet and mousehair will be sourced from HVL, everything will be restored and the car totally stripped for a bare metal restoration. I’m going to let the owner chime in on the title of the thread and give the history of the car. A good story and I’m happy Shawn has trusted me to do this.
