    Welcome to Dino Restoration

The third from last Dino 08514, omgjon, Jon Gunderson, Dino Restoration
Two Dino’s arrived today for a complete makeover! 08510 is the LAST flares and chairs Dino made, originally Red and staying that way with black interior. 08514 is the third to last Dino made and was only 2 car in front of the chairs and flares car at the very end of the production run. Both super nice cars with everything in place including ALL the original smog equipment. Both cars with very low miles and the Silver Spyder still with it’s original paint and factory installed headlight covers. Both are USA cars and no changes are anticipated from how they were delivered. I’ve already removed lids and fiberglass getting ready for engine removal this week. These are nicest cars I’ve had to start with as there is no visible damage or corrosion. It’s off to the races!!

Dino 246 getting ready for paint. omgjon, Jon Gunderson. Dino Restoration
There was a ton of metal work to do on this car, with new sills, front damage etc and changing it back to it’s original configuration as a Euro. That required removing extra bumper posts, filling in USA light holes etc. With the metal work behind us the primer coats have been moving along. Shawn will get a spray out next week and color could start as soon as 2 weeks!

Ferrari Dino 246 door cards, Wiper motor and assembly, Dash cable pulls, dino restoration, omgjon, Jon Gunderson
More work on my Houston Dino. I made new door cards, I like using 3/32″ birch. It doesn’t warp nor do the clips pull out. I get all the clips in and test it before it gets covered so everything lines up on first try. I also have a jig to make sure my window cables are EXACTLY the right length. Nothing worse than have to take apart once together and installed and the cable doesn’t quite fit. Been there done that!!.The wiper arms where the arms attach were frozen and it took some persuasion to get them loose. I sent the motor out for overhaul. The heater, defrost and choke levers were chromed, plated, new labels etc. While I’ve been doing this getting down to the last items I’m on the internet every night looking for various missing motor parts. I’m slowly getting there. I keep Brad busy so my 206 and this 246 GTS keep getting shoved to the end of the line. Shawn’s Dino is next then I have a 74 Silver/Black GTS coming in a week or so (third from last Dino built) that will follow shawms then I’m hoping my 206. It’s all these details that really make a difference!

Ferrari Dino 206 GT Brakes and Steering, Dino Restoration, Jon Gunderson, Omgjon
I’m down to last few parts to restore and I’m ready to start assembly. The problem is that I’ve has my car at Brad’s for over a year waiting in line. I keep slipping in someone else’s Dino and mine goes to the back of line.

Ferrari Dino Wiper Motor and linkage, Dino Restoration, omgjon, Jon Gunderson
Today I took apart something that I had never tackled before. I think this is the only part that I hadn’t restored completely is the past. I had no choice as the part the wiper arm attached too was completely frozen up. After a lot of persuasion it broke loose. At that point I figured why not take everything apart as I was getting ready to make a trip to LA to get some other parts cad plated. We’ll see how it turns out and to see if somehow it works correctly when finished. Stay tuned. I have 90 percent of the parts complete and just need a car back from paint to get going!!
