Everything has now been stripped off the car and ready for media blast. You can notice the original Silver color on the insides of the doors.
Engine Out
Engine removal today
This Dino was being Driven Just 2 Days Ago!!
Disassembly has begun with a close eye on it by the owner who came down for 3 days to help out. I think the biggest thing he learned was that a nuts and bolts restoration is really the only way to go!
Headed to San Diego
I picked up this 73 GTS Euro model in Menlo Park for a full make over including a color change to Blu Sera Metallizzato. I took the slow route home catching the beauty of the California coastline.
Heat and Noise
I put 1 inch closed cell foam between the fiberglass and the bottom floor pan as well as on the back firewall between the fiberglass and the aluminum heat shield. It helps with heat and noise.
First Day of Reassembly
The first day of reassembly! This time I’m putting more parts on before the fiberglass tub and inner fenders, as I think there will be easier access without having to lean on the car body. I also had Brad leave the doors off to hang at a later time. This is the most satisfying part of the job as it all comes together totally clean, one part at a time.
Reassembly of Parts
Now that Mel’s car is at the paints shop I reassembled and rebuilt most of the parts to be ready when it comes back from paint
Engine In!
The engine is in and next week, road testing begins.
