I started mocking up the front suspension to make sure everything fits. RSR Strut bodies, Elephant racing bushings, 930 rotors and 930 calipers.
Finishing up suspension reinforcements and fitting flares
Finished up all the suspension reinforcements except for a few that go inside by the center tunnel rear seat area. We put all the flares on and what a difference!! I’m starting to picture it in my mind. Finished up restoring the steering with a new Momo steering wheel.
Suspension reinforcements and cutting flares
Worked on most of the reinforcements today. Front and rear swaybar reinforcements, new rear swaybar mounts, rear torsion tubes and shock towers. We started cutting for the 11″ rear flares.
Handbrake assembly, wiper assembly and the shift assembly with Wevo internals
I picked up my plating in LA and now I can rebuild more parts. Today was the Handbrake assembly, wiper assembly and the shift assembly with Wevo internals.
Parts!
Lots of parts came today!!!
Reinforcements
These are some of the reinforcements I’m doing. Front swaybar mount, Front strut, rear spring plate, rear shock tubes, front shock tubex, new rear sway bar mounts (not shown). This is going to be a street car, is undercoating recommended as original on these early 911’s?
Shapes
I love the shape of both the Dino and early 911. The dino has all the curves and compound curves, so I would have to say to me the Dino has the edge. I got one of the bodies back from media blast and overall it’s not to bad. My big delivery comes next week of flares etc etc. In the meantime I’m restoring the parts I’ll reuse. I started with the pedal box and rebushed everything and added pedal covers. I got 930 trailing arms which I had vapor blasted. They look new!!
More metal work
Making a lot of progress on the metal work. We changed the floor to sock, made a new front nose, added bumpers, changed the hood, fabricated new correct flares, replaced rusted areas behind wheels, changed rear panel from one light back to two and added rear bumpers. The sills have some rot so we need to fix that then off to the paint shop for surfacing and paint. I’m keeping Speedzone busy with paint jobs. This one will be back to original Rosso Dino.
