With the Dino back with me and epoxy primed the next step is to get it to the metal stage. A few areas have manifested themselves after the media blast and will be cut out, replaced with new metal. A very good car overall with minimal problem areas.
Paint This Week!
Finally after several months at the paint shop it will be painted this week! I hope to start reassembly in about 10 days, that’s the fun part to see it all come back together.
The Engine
A few shots of the motor after I unloaded it with the help of a Kubota tractor.
Already Looks Better
I couldn’t stand looking at the sorry interior so I spent the day removing everything I could with my limited time and tools while vacationing in Austin. I did find some dreaded rust that will have to be cut out. Nothing major.
Houston Dino 04274
I was suppose to be on vacation this week in Austin, Texas. Instead of boating on Lake Travis I dragged a Dino home from Houston. This is a 72 GTS originally Dino Blue Metallizzato with Sabbia interior. It’s been in Houston all of it’s life and was originally bought along with another green one by a Houston women as gifts for the 2 doctors that helped her husband through some serious health issues. It was repainted red in the 80’s and has sat for some time. The engine was just totally rebuilt in Houston by a Ferrari trained mechanic. He has somewhat of a history if any of you are familiar with the F 40 that crashed in Houston and was the subject of the TV show on Discovery Channel. The body is in decent shape and the engine like new. As for the rest, as you can see much work is needed!!
Todays Progress
Getting started on Phase 2, part by part.
Naked to the World
With the car media blasted all it’s warts and imperfections are there to see. Overall in good shape, the right sill will need to be replaced.
Cleaning Wiring Harness
Cleaning wiring today and marking everything to have ready for when reassembly starts. I flipped a coin with Charlie to see who would clean and who would mark the wires. Luckily I won!
