The car will be yellow and the first spray out was done.  We will be comparing it to an original color book I have.  In the meantime there still is plenty of parts to make like new!

The car was blasted and primed with metal etching primer and is now back at the shop. The next job which is not very glamorous is cleaning and repairing all the various fiberglass pieces. I want to pre-fit all the fiberglass panels now to make it much easier when the frame is painted.

With 2 coats of primer on the car and getting close to paint, I put the fiberglass back in the car. I also got the trunk fiberglass ready to install and the heat shield and ceramic insulation in.

Ferrari Dino 246 in second primer, Dino restoration, Jon Gunderson

Steve K. has finished with the second primer and the frame has been painted satin black.  Tomorrow I go to Steve’s paint shop to reinstall the fiberglass which I took out prior to having the car media blasted. I like to get the fiberglass back in before paint to minimize any possible damage that could be done after the car is painted.

Ferrari Dino fuel tanks being painted, Dino restoration, Jon Gunderson

I painted the fuel tanks today with the same material originally used (I think). It’s a Wurth product not available in the USA so I had to smuggle a case of it in from an unnamed source. It goes on very thick almost like drywall splatter, light beige in color.
